Suttons Bay
Publisher Desc.
Suttons Bay, Leelanau County, Michigan is a work for young orchestra
designed to teach bowing fundamentals and meter change. The music is inspired by a visit to Suttons
Bay, a village in Northern Michigan, located along the Leelanau peninsula,
bordering an inlet of Lake Michigan.
The brightly colored clapboard buildings and public beach invite
tourists to stop for a break, or spend the weekend enjoying shopping, eating,
and relaxing. The melodies are
reminiscent of an old sea shanty, with time changes that represent the ebb
and flow of waves crashing into the sand.
Young musicians will be stretched to use string crossings and shift
positions. Each instrument gets an
opportunity for a rollicking melody!
