The Bells
Publisher Desc.
William Byrd was one of the greatest English virginalists, his best known
works being included in the iconic Fitzwilliam Virginal Book. One of his most popular works from that
collection is 'The Bells', a mesmerizing tune that depicts the repetitive
chiming of church bells. This adaption
for brass quartet makes a perfect prelude tune and features changing meters,
building contrapuntal intensity, and a dramatic finish of clanging bell
tones. Scoring is for two trumpets, tenor trombone (or horn in F) and bass
trombone. Duration: 3:10
