The Old Schenectady
Publisher Desc.
The Old Schenectady by Howard Ackers was written in 1955. This treatment of the march by Mr. Parthun uses the same primary melodies that Mr. Akers wrote for each strain and the original bass line. The woodwind harmony lines in the first strain and the quotes from Hail Purdue in the trio are new additions to the piece. The orchestration reflects the instrumentation used in contemporary junior high and high school bands.
